Firewire Surfboards

Anyone ride/ridden a firewire board? I need a new board and was thinking about getting an epoxy one.

I think firewire is different than epoxy. Plus there is a ton of different types of epoxy surfboards. Epoxy can apparently be a little skittish and bouncy because they are stiff and very bouyant, but fast. Firewires flex like crazy so i don't know how they go. I would hit up your surf shop.

Lame, I don't surf enough.

If they are good enough for Taj Burrow, they should be sweet for pretty much anyone!

I wonder how much Taj gets paid to ride Firewire boards, thats if they are real Firewire boards and not some other board re-badged.

Yeah they are Epoxy boards with balsa rails for strength and flex.

Taj all most sold on one cause obviously if I had one I could ride as good as him....

But for the moment im just gonna stick to my local shaper and get a normal board.

Apparently Taj is the only surfer on the WCT that uses an epoxy type board in the firewire, 1/40 is pretty shit odds

TB's boards are WAY different - like half the weight again, but I guess the basic concept is the same. A friend got his hands on a cast off and was absolutely frothing on it though - particularly the weight. Sucked in chop though, as most epoxy / stringerless boards seem to do.
